Best time to visit Singita Lodges & Camps

South Africa

For South Africa, traditionally the dry winter months (April to October) are best for game viewing, due to the shorter grass, lack of foliage and the absence of water which forces the game to concentrate around the remaining sources of drinking water. Annual rainfall, usually in the form of short afternoon thunder showers that clear up within an hour, occur from December to March. Many species give birth to their young around the start of the rainy season which is when the the bush comes alive with newborn animals.

East Africa

East Africa is equatorial so the climate is fairly constant and it is a year-round destination. Tanzania has a light rain season from November to March. The Green Season, from November to May, offers long, warm days with short downpours of rain, which transforms the landscape into lush green grasslands teeming with diverse wildlife. June to October is traditionally the migration season, when the days are warm, sunny and dry.

Rwanda

Rwanda has a temperate tropical highland climate, with lower temperatures than are typical for equatorial countries due to its high elevation. Rwanda can be visited at any time of the year and gorilla trekking is a year-round activity. The long rainy season lasts from March to May, when the rain is heavy and persistent. The long dry season is from June to mid-September. October to November is a shorter rainy season; followed by a short dry season from December to February.
